Prof. Haitao Zhang is a distinguished tenured professor at the Department of Precision Instruments, Tsinghua University, and a leading expert in photonics and laser technology. He earned his Ph.D. in Optical Engineering and B.S. in Testing Technology and Instrumentation from Beijing Institute of Technology. Since joining Tsinghua University, he has advanced from postdoctoral researcher to full professor, also serving as a visiting scholar at Cornell University. Prof. Haitao Zhang research encompasses femtosecond and fiber laser technologies, planar waveguide solid-state lasers, femtosecond laser medical equipment, and optoelectronic information processing, including super-resolution imaging and optical wireless communication. His pioneering contributions to solid-state and fiber laser systems have significantly influenced precision instrumentation and medical laser applications. He has published over 160 scientific papers, accumulating 1,204 citations by 1,011 documents, with an h-index of 19, demonstrating his sustained impact on the global optics community. He serves as Vice Director of the Institute of Laser Engineering at Tsinghua University and as an executive member of professional committees under the Chinese Optical Society and Beijing Optical Society. Prof. Zhang has received multiple national and ministerial awards, including the Second Prize in Natural Science from China’s Ministry of Education and the First Prize in Science and Technology Progress for his work on super-luminescent fiber light. Additionally, he contributes to international research dissemination as a Guest Editor for Applied Sciences and Micromachines, leading special issues on femtosecond and fiber laser advancements.
